On the 31st, Law Firm YK announced the appointment of Professor Kim Hwa-jin from Seoul National University School of Law as an advisor, enhancing its corporate governance and ESG capabilities.

Professor Kim, a pioneer in Korean corporate law, combines academic and practical expertise. He studied mathematics at Seoul National University and holds a Master of Laws from Harvard and a doctorate from the University of Munich. He has taught at top global universities and published widely recognized works. He chairs Samsung Securities and serves as Senior Outside Director at Hyundai Mobis. His books are core texts in governance studies.
He has led various governance initiatives, chairing key committees in national and ESG standards bodies, and addressing governance issues at major corporations. He has also published on significant topics like Asan Chung Ju-yung's legacy.
At a seminar on commercial law on the 11th, he discussed "The Future of Korean Corporate Governance," highlighting the need for capacity building in ESG and shareholder protection.
At YK, Professor Kim will advise on shareholder disputes, management rights, board operations, internal controls, and ESG strategies post-commercial law amendments.
YK commented that Professor Kim's expertise is invaluable as commercial law and ESG regulations evolve, expecting him to offer practical solutions for corporate client challenges.
